（1） 用于打电话时，叫对方不要挂断电话，意为：等一下；别挂断；别放下话筒。如：
A：May I speak to Mr Black， please？ 请找布莱克先生接电话好吗？

（2） 用作电话用语以外的其它情况，叫对方等一下，意为：等一下。如：

24. I‘ve no idea.
表示不知道，相当于 I don‘t know，意为：我不知道。如：

25. （Just） imagine that （it）！
（1） 叫对方设想某一情形或景象等，意为：想一想！ 想想看！ 如：

27. You never know.
用于委婉地表示没有把握，意为：说不准；这事很难说。如：
A：Will you be coming next week？ 你下周会回来吗？
B：You never know. 说不定。
28. Watch your language.
用于警告对方不要骂人或使用粗话，意为：讲话注意点；你嘴巴放干净点；不要骂人。如：

表示：最后（提到）的但并非是最不重要的。如：
